Present Web Resources to Your Students Without Being Connected to the WWW

The title is not a misprint. You can use rich web resources found on the Internet to teach with, without using Technology to present that information. You just have to be creative. Here is a list of problems and solutions. If you know of other ideas, please add your comments ;-)

Problem #1 - I have a powerpoint presentation for my class, but I don't have a projector to present it with.

Solution #1 - First put that powerpoint on a web site - like MyTeacherpages.com so that your students have access to it at home, during study hall etc. Secondly, print out your powerpoint presentation and use it as a handout.

Problem #2 - I have a podcast from Science Friday (or any other podcast) and I want to teach with that. I don't have a projector to present it with.

Solution #2 - Since most podcasts are mp3 files, download and burn the podcast to cd and use a cd player from home to play it.

Problem #3 - I want to take my students to a web page that shows photographs or illustrations of a topic. I don't have a projector to present it with.

Solution #3 - Print out the web page and use it as a hand out. The great thing about printing out a web page is that the URL is located on the top (or maybe the bottom) of the hand out and you can encourage your students to visit the site when they have a chance.

Problem #4 - I have a video to present to my students from EdVideo Online (formerly Thinkbright Video on Demand). I don't have a projector to present it with.

Solution #4 - There is not a solution for this - that I know of - complain really loud to your administrator ;-)
