In the classroom the students can use the web to search for research. The teacher can also create webquests for the students to do for different topics.
ReplyDeleteI plan on using the web in my future classroom by having a class homepage where the students can go to and read about weekly topics that they will be introduced to. Also included on the class homepage will be a list of educational sites that they can use when researching different topics. Students will also be able to leave suggestions and comments about class activities on this homepage.
ReplyDeleteIn my future classroom I plan to use the web by having a homepage as a guide for the students and parents. Throughout the year students and parents can see what we are doing, what we have done, and what we will be doing. I hope to use the web for mini lessons in each subject area and at the end of the year compile all of their skills that they have learned so the students can create their final projects. The web will be a place where they can ask questions and leave comments for other students along the way.
ReplyDeleteUsing the internet in the classroom is , in my opinion, the wave of the future in communicating with students, parents, other teachers, and administrators. I plan to maintain a classroom website that everyone can visit to view pictures, gather information, etc. I also think a classroom website is a great forum for generating educational discussion and improving instruction.
ReplyDeleteI plan on using the web for my classroom to allow students to work with other students on projects. Comminucationg through the web will working on projects, checking status of assignments, sending messages home and replying back as an assignment, and as a study guide for upcoming exams.
ReplyDeleteTechnology enhances and reinforces instruction. As a teacher I plan to embrace this approach to help my students explore subjects and topics from various points of view and resources. Homework and skill reinforcement can be made fun and entertaining through the use of clever educational websites. I plan to use web browsers for all areas of communication between parents, students and general school news. Web browsers would also allow me the opportunity to provide students with more interesting and in-depth information on certain topics, for example NASA websites which would provide realistic astronomical images of our galaxy and solar system, something that would be difficult to duplicate without this technological resource.
ReplyDeleteThe possibilities using a web browser in the classroom are limitless!
In my classroom I would have a web page that parents and children could use together. On the page it would include homework, project dates, rubrics, pictures of the children and things we are doing in the classroom.
ReplyDeletei think that interactive websites are effective in helping students go above and beyond what they learn in the classroom. as an english major, i have found several websites based on novels that provide games, writing prompts, summaries, discussion etc.
ReplyDeleteIf my class was discussing the earth ecosystems in science class, I would use the Forecast extension to track temperatures in the different ecosystems of the world. Students could also use the web browser to look up information about the different ecosystems. They could find pictures and posssibly videos on the National Geographics Website. Students could use Quicknotes to gather information for a project. There could be many interactive opportunities for the students to learn about while using the firefox extensions.
ReplyDeleteI have used the web extensively in my classroom, some examples are an interactive site called starfall that is great for primary ela support, MS shapes which is a math sit supported by the Scott Foresman Company and Chalkwaves which is a web based site that provides educational streaming videos in a browser search format. I can see the web being used successfully in all subject areas including making an extension to home which is vital to success for students. I look forward to learning new ways to use the web in my instructional techniques.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was that at some point most of the information used in a classroom could be digital, rather than textbooks, and in that case the teacher could upload the right page/information to each student's screen, rather than waiting to see if they'll actually even open their books or not.
ReplyDeleteUsing current technology in the classroom provides wonderful opportunities for learning. Typically, students show an interest in new technology. As a future teacher, I would like to create my own website to communicate with my students. This website would contain various links regarding the topics studied in our classroom. It would also allow students to post comments and questions to the rest of the class.
ReplyDeleteWeb quests are great for students and teachers to learn from. There are many educational websites to direct students to such as pbs or discovery. There are also online student chat rooms where they can discuss their writing--like a coffee house for adults. As long as they are reading, whatever it is, they are learning and READING!!
ReplyDeleteI also think that the web can be used in the class in so many ways, (information, technical use, research, entertainment, ideas, communication.) I also think that the web could be used to easily drop positive notes to parents about their children, or even have the students write their parents a quick e-mail about their day, what they're doing or did...a great tool all around!!
ReplyDeleteI would like to use the computer as a communication tool between teacher, parents, and students. A student could go online if they were having trouble with an assignment. Either the teacher or another student could provide the help or support needed.
ReplyDeleteThe web is a great tool in the classroom, especially for research. I find it important to teach students what types of websites are legitimate and how to use the web to search for information. One can even use the web for dictionaries, thesauruses and encyclopedias. If you had older students (middle/high school), blogging would be a great tool for answering questions. That way all the students see the posts and everyone is clear on assignments, etc.
ReplyDeleteI plan on using the web in my future classroom by having the students take a virtual tour of a place that they are studying. This gives the students a way actually see the place instead of just reading about it in a textbook.
ReplyDeleteThe web can be used to provide a means for communication between school and home. Teachers can create websites where the daily homework and announcements are posted. Today, many parents wish to use the internet as opposed to a paper copies.

ReplyDeleteAs a future teacher, I plan to use the web as a research tool for my students. There are so many sites students can log onto to help them with any reports or projects they need to do research on. Or, if they need to find extra information on something we have already learned about in the classroom, it can be a handy supplemental learning tool.
ReplyDeleteWhen teaching a classroom it is important to utilize the computer in any way that is possible. In my experience I have found that a classroom homepage is very beneficial, not only for the students but also for their parents. Keeping in contact and up to date on what is happening is imperative in today’s classroom. Teachers should also use the web to help prepare lessons. There are a number of sites that actually have discussion boards for teachers to help each other and share information.
ReplyDeleteIn my classroom I would like to use the internet as more of a facilitator of communication between the student, teacher, and parent. By setting up a classroom web page I believe that it could help everyone know what is going on in the classroom and be able to answer any questions that may arise about homework or schedules for projects. The web has an abundance of information to use and it could also be helpful in planning lessons for the teacher. By being able to use the web to go on discussion boards with other teachers, ideas can be shared, also reflection and growth can occur by all teachers involved.

ReplyDeleteI plan to use the internet in my classroom for students to be able to do research. I would also use the internet to teach the kids about different things. The internet is a great resource for instruction. It helps connect what they are learning to the real world!!
ReplyDeleteI would use the internet as a research tool. Students can learn so much on the internet and there are so many great websites out there. I would also use educational interactive websites. I used an interactive website once to teach students about continental drift and it was amazing. The internet provides that one on one learning and provides so many more educational opportunities that a teacher alone cannot always offer.
ReplyDeleteIn my future classroom I plan on using the web to browse for research. I also am a firm believer in web quests and will encourage students to use the internet to complete variouse web quests.
ReplyDeleteI also feel the web can be used as an essential source for communication. I plan on providing parents with monthly newsletters and e-mails via a homepage, and e-mail provider.
I also will use the web for current information that applies to the students lives. It is much easier to find a current article on line rather than searching the library.
How? Carefully and with planning.
ReplyDeleteA browser affords teachers the ability to have students vicariously experience a hurricane without getting wet, to hear a kookaburra without traveling via the medium that children prefer, electronically! Obtained through streaming video, images, web quests, research, and more, students are able to construct their own knowledge when appropriately and carefully guided. Usually I download these materials to my laptop or jump-drive and install on student PCs. In the event our net connection goes down,
the lesson continues…
In the future, I would love to incorporate blogging and podcasting.
I think technology is the most important tool in today's classroom. I use it currently to publish student work, read current events for Social Studies, and to integrate rubrics and standards in my lessons. All of my teacher supplies, standards, rubrics, and lesson plans are downloadable from our browser. We also use it as a source of communication between staff members and parents in blogs and emails. Soon students will be able to email their teacher's to get support for homework and other projects. This is my standpoint from an elementary teacher's view of the web browser.
ReplyDeleteA web browser is so helpful for elementary teachers. I use one to show students the daily weather, news articles, and research data for classroom projects. We have a school site, and a classroom site. These are visited by teachers, parents and students. I can post assignments, published students work and future work. We can also be contacted by the community. I can't remember what it was like before we had these services!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope this where we are supposed to leave our proposal as well! I would propose a third grade science lesson using the forecast fox extension. I have done this in the past with weather.com but after looking at this site, it is much easier and more expansive the other sites. the standards say they need to be able to read temperature, plot data, and identify the different weather types and fronts. This will make it easier to choose cities and countires besides Buffalo.
ReplyDeleteIn the classroom the web can be used by students to research different ideas for projects. Also, a classroom page could be used to show the work that we have been doing in the classroom. The web has many different educational sites that can be used for students to work on specific skills that they may be struggling with.
ReplyDeleteA web browser helps to connect the teacher with the web and can help him or her to get information from the web. This information can be used to aid research for an upcoming lesson, help the teacher to better understand his or her students or a browser can even help a teacher talk to and relate with other teachers in their profession
ReplyDeleteI plan on using the web blog as a way for students to access their assignments from home. Parents will also have access to the site so that they can see the course work their child is doing and maybe even be able to see how they are doing in a specific subject.
ReplyDeleteAn objective using Quicknotes:
ReplyDeleteThe question is to use the designated research bookmarks to investigate the causes of population growth and decline in the world and how the biological and other physical factors have contributed to the changes. Before they start research each pair of students should come up with a hypotheis and record it on a piece of paper to be handed in later. Students should only use the websites saved in the Bookmarks. They should use the first Note to record any evidence supporting or opposing their theory. The second note should be used for citing every article or website that they use in their investigation.
I have used a web browser in my classroom in a variety of different ways. First, in order to find research on a particular subject or event (ex: events that led up to the Revolutionary War). They also browse for pictures to match the research. A second way I use a web browser is to find interactive games/lessons to use while teaching my students. These games are usually found when you are on an educational website, and it directs you to other links that have games available. I always "bookmark" these websites under "favorites" and the students can choose educational games when they have computer time. Lastly, the district I teach in has a website with links to their grades webpage. These webpages have other interactive review games, testing strategies, book suggestions, etc.

ReplyDeleteI would utilize the web as a complete learning experience for my students. Begin the mornings with the students presenting the news or any interesting articles from timeforkids.com, do research projects, create presentations, or teach from the web using a projector. As a teacher I want to create meaningful assignments and the web is an essential tool for the students.
ReplyDeleteIn my future classroom I would use the web for educational purposes. For a K-1 class: the website starfall is very popular among teachers and students. For grades 2 and up: bookmark key sites that will be useful during the many research projects throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteTechnology is a great help to communication. Having a class website, not only for the students but for the parents as well, is a great way to communicate what is going on in the classroom. I plan to have a parent-teacher blog set up so that parents can leave questions or comments for the teacher, as well as for the other parents to see, similar to how we're functioning in this class.
ReplyDeleteIn the classroom the teachers can use the web to have the children research projects. They can also use the web as one way to communicate with parents and let them know what is going on in the classroom and the assignments that are do. Teachers can also use the web for themselves to look up different reasearch topics about education.
ReplyDeleteI believe a blog is an informational tool that can be used to journal information and share information about a specific topic. Students can post all sorts of comments and you can have them submit their ideas to the blog. A blog is a good way to integrate technology into your course.
