Dear Soldier Poetry Project

In this lesson we will use a web based poetry form to create a poem for our soldiers serving overseas.

New York State Standard: ELA2.KN.WR2: Language for Literary Response and Expression
Performance Indicator -- ELA2.KN.WR2.01
Students draw or write original literary texts to:
* create poems or jingles, using pictures/drawings and some words, with assistance
  1. Visit - http://ettcweb.lr.k12.nj.us/forms/newpoem.htm
  2. Choose a poetry template - templates can be chosen in the following formats (individually, groups, whole class) I chose this one: http://ettcweb.lr.k12.nj.us/forms/noun_adjective_phrase.htm
  3. Write the poem by filling in the form (students can compose individually, in groups, or whole class)
  4. Print the poem(s)
  5. Illustrate the poem(s)
Example Poem:
American Soldier
brave, helpful, patriotic, courageous
defends our freedoms
wants to create a better world
sacrifices their time for the people of the United States of America
