Christopher T. Shively, PhD
Buffalo, NY, United States
Christopher Shively is an Assistant Professor in the Elementary Education and Reading Department at Buffalo State College where he has worked since 2013. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in science, math and educational research methods. Shively also teaches in the International Graduate Program for Educators (IGPE). Dr. Shively has been teaching for 24 years across multiple levels of schooling (K-20). He received his M.S. in Educational Computing from Buffalo State College (1999) where he focused on online learning during the Internet’s infancy. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Buffalo (2013) where he explored the relationships between teaching and learning science using inquiry and technology. His current research focuses on understanding the origins of thinking dispositions in veteran teachers and how those dispositions influence instruction. Shively is also developing STEM units with veteran elementary science teachers, undergraduate and graduate students. His research team is examining the effects of learning science and math concepts using hands-on investigations supported by online computer simulations.
